Bruce Pennington Bruce Pennington is a British painter, perhaps best known for his science fiction and fantasy novel cover art. Pennington's works have largely featured on the covers of novels of Isaac Asimov, Clark Ashton Smith and Robert A. José Roosevelt José Roosevelt (1958-) 1982 The Castle of Kafka. José Roosevelt was born in Rio de Janeiro. When he was only 15 years old he decided to take up painting, being fascinated by the surrealism of Dali, and the then emerging fantasy art. He taught himself primarily through visiting museums and art galleries and read extensively about the history of painting and its techniques. Initially he began by writing and illustrating graphic novels, but from about 1977 painting became Roosevelt's main focus. His first solo exhibition was held in Brasília in 1979 in which he displayed thirty surrealist pictures, mostly painted in acrylic on canvas. * The intellectual property of the images that appear in this blog correspond to their authors and to those who have assigned them. Petr Gric was born in 1968 in Brno, former Czechoslovakia. His parents supported his talent in painting and drawing, which he exhibited when he was young.[4] In 1980 his parents, under the pretense described as vacation travel, emigrated through Hungary and Yugoslavia to Austria, and Gric thenceforth lived in Western Europe. They spent one year in the countryside of Reichenau an der Rax. They soon moved to Linz where Gric finished primary school and studied graphic design at the Höhere Technische Lehranstalt. In 1988 he moved to Vienna where he began to study under Arik Brauer at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.[4][5] He finished his studies with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1993.[1] While still in college, he participated in several exhibitions and started to sell his work successfully.[4] In 1996, Gric presented his work about the connection of painting and computer graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.[5] In 2009, he moved from Vienna to Höflein an der Hohen Wand.
